Dan Dubno at Gel 2007
Dan Dubno at Gel 2007
Here is the Gel 2008 schedule, before and during the conference, and location info.
All Gel 2008 attendees can now (as of Feb. 29) log in to their attendee page to rank their choices for morning and afternoon Day 1 events. Submission deadline is Monday, March 31.
Below, this is what the attendee page looks like: a link to rank morning events, a link to rank afternoon events, and a link to your full Gel 2008 itinerary.
Here's what to do:
• Rank your morning choices and click Submit.
• Rank your afternoon choices and click Submit. (Please rank multiple events, in case your favorite gets sold out.)
You'll get an e-mail receipt for each of those two submissions.

Key dates before the conference:
• Monday, March 31: Last day for attendees to make or change Day 1 choices (to be assigned by ticket-purchase date).
• Tuesday, April 1: We make Day 1 assignments by ticket-purchase date, and gray out any sold-out events. Your Day 1 assignments will appear in your Gel 2008 itinerary, available via the itinerary link on your Gel attendee page - log in.
(Latecomer attendees can still choose Day 1 tours at this point, on a first-come-first-serve basis, from the events that aren't yet sold out.)
• Monday, April 14: Ticket-transfer deadline. No tickets may be transferred after this date (see the Gel 2008 transfer and refund policy for details).
• Thursday, April 17: Last day to make first-come-first serve Day 1 choices. After today, all Day 1 assignments are final.
Location: Various venues throughout NYC; not the TimesCenter. There are no Thursday events at the TimesCenter.
The Gel 2008 conference begins on "Day 1," Thursday, April 24. Assuming you ranked choices on time and were then assigned to Day 1 events, this is roughly what your itinerary will look like:
• Starting 9am or 10am: "Icebreaker" morning event, starting between 9am and 10am (depending on the event you're assigned to), and ending around noon or 12:30pm. Each morning event is intended for attendees to meet each other and participate in a group activity - a multiplayer game, a museum scavenger hunt, a juggling class.
(Lunch isn't catered on Day 1, so attendees should grab a bite before heading to their afternoon tour.)
• Starting 2pm: Afternoon event, starting at 2pm, ending between 4pm and 5:30pm, depending on the event. Afternoon offerings will vary - some walking tours, some workshops and seminars.
• 7pm to 10pm: All-attendee party, sponsored by Google. Location details are on your Gel 2008 itinerary page (log in to see it).
Location: All Friday events take place at the TimesCenter. Enter on 41st St. between 7th and 8th Aves (see map). Presentations will take place in the main theater. Breaks, lunch, and cocktails will take place in the simulcast room downstairs, outfitted by Room & Board.
Note that we will check IDs at the door. Please let us know before the transfer deadline of April 14 if someone else will be attending instead of you. (See our transfer policy.)
Schedule below.
• 7:45am: Registration opens, and breakfast begins - bagels, juice, and coffee.
• 8:15am: Doors open to the theater (while breakfast continues downstairs). Get a seat early, since we're likely to be sold out and every seat will be taken.
• 8:30am - 10:15am: First set of stage presentations. (Breakfast ends at 8:30am.)
• 10:15am - 10:45am: Morning snack break in simulcast room.
• 10:45am - 12:30pm: Second set of stage presentations.
• 12:30pm - 1:45pm: Lunch break in simulcast room. (For anyone observing Passover, we will have appropriate food available.)

• 3:30pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon snack break in simulcast room.
• 4:00pm - 6:00pm: Fourth and final set of stage presentations.
• 6:00pm - 7:30pm: Cocktail party to end the conference.
