Gel 2011 Schedule & Location

Thursday, April 28: "Day 1"

Location: Morning events held at the TimesCenter, at 242 West 41st St. between 7th and 8th Aves (see map). As of the lunch break at 12 noon or so, attendees will be dismissed to afternoon experiences around New York City.

Note that we will check IDs at the door. (Transfer requests: please read our transfer policy.)

Thursday schedule:
  • 8:15am: Badge pick-up (and coffee!)
  • 8:45-ish: Doors to theater open
  • 9am-10am: Morning session, starting the conference in the TimesCenter theater.
  • 10am-12noon: Mid-morning experience. Attendees will choose, that morning, one of three events (juggling, improv, drawing) running simultaneously at the TimesCenter.
  • Lunch: Starting at 12noon, attendees leave the TimesCenter to grab lunch on their own before their afternoon experience.
  • 2pm-ish to 4pm-ish: Afternoon experience. Attendees, get your itinerary here to see details of your afternoon experience. Attendees who submitted choices are all assigned to one of the 15 experiences running simultaneously around New York City. (Assignments were made in the order of ticket purchase, a good reason to sign up early for next year!)

Friday, April 29: Theater Day

Location: All Friday events take place at the TimesCenter, at 242 West 41st St. between 7th and 8th Aves (see map). Presentations will take place in the main theater. Breaks, lunch, and cocktails will take place in the hall downstairs.

Friday schedule:
  • 7:45am: Registration opens, and breakfast begins — bagels, juice, and coffee.
  • 8:15am: Doors open to the theater (while breakfast continues downstairs)
  • 8:30am–10:15am: First set of stage presentations. (Breakfast ends at 8:30am)
  • 10:15am–10:50am: Morning snack break
  • 10:50am–12:30pm: Second set of stage presentations
  • 12:30pm–1:45pm: Lunch break
  • 1:45pm–3:30pm: Third set of stage presentations
  • 3:30pm–4:15pm: Afternoon snack break
  • 4:15pm–5:45pm: Fourth and final set of stage presentations
  • 5:45pm–7:30pm: Cocktail party to end the conference

Saturday, April 30: "Gel Saturday"

For the first time, Gel is expanding to run events on a third day.

  • 9:30am–11:45am: Morning event. Attendees who submitted a choice can see their assigned event on their itinerary page.
  • 12noon: Attendee meetup for lunch. All three morning events will converge on the same place: attendees, see itinerary page for details.
