Summary: proposal for experiential tools to improve listening, and relationships, within couples.
Description
Rahul writes:
"The need to maintain close relationships with others is a fundamental human motivation impacting one's complete well being. However, in today's liquid society, close relationships seem to be moulding and disintegrating quite rapidly. Experience design on the other hand with its tremendous influential ability has mostly been deployed for purposes of commerce & constant addiction (read Las Vegas, Disney World, Shopping malls etc) & hasn't charted the territory of people's well being too often. This unmet combination is what I targeted to address and explore, if & to what extent can consciously 'designing' the experiences of couples improve their relationships?
"MeWe focuses on the dynamic world of 'unspoken and unheard feelings' based on the fact that it is the single biggest factor causing negative experiences in couples and bringing them to counselling. MeWe tries to be an alternative to the insipid and redundant methods used in therapy currently (read workshops, dvd videos, counselling etc) by being a fun daily based experience which works seamlessly to improve the emotional disclosures and listening between the couples while they use it but without making them aware of it.
"For the last 100 years - from letters, to phones, to faxes, to emails, to chats, to texts, to tweets - communication has been getting shorter and broader but arguably shallower. The MeWe project is an ongoing effort in the direction of making these conversations deeper and intimate, allowing couples to engage in the type of communication that deepens bonds and improves relationships."
