Founder, The Bubble Project
Ji Lee at Gel 2006 from Gel Conference on Vimeo.
(With subtitles now!.. -mh) Not long ago in New York City, cartoon "thought bubbles" began appearing on print advertisements in the subway. Interested passersby wrote in text, beginning a dialogue about the ad, its message, the city, American culture, and with each other. Ji Lee's low-tech, decentralized Bubble Project needed no instructions, no moving parts, no planning, and almost no investment - and yet it yielded a rich set of commentary from and about the people of New York (and now other cities, as the project has spread to four other cities). A brilliant example of good experience in the city.

I was in the audience and loved the presentation. Great concept of Ji Lee. I was ready to forward this link to a number of friends but, having viewed it, I saw the video isn't of good enough quality to read the bubbles. Is it possible to subtitle the captions for this video?

Good idea, Tom, thanks - we'll have to work on that.

I echo Tom's suggestion. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the audience, so without being able to read the bubbles, the presentation is meaningless. Looks like a lot of fun, so I hope some video supers can be added soon.

The message and presentation is great - even though I couldent see the actual contents of the bubbles. Its about concept and results.

Subtitles are now visible in the video. Thanks for the suggestion!
